Noise Canceling Headphones- How They Work and Why We Need Them
Noise canceling headphones have been around for a number of years, but do you really know how they work or why do we need them. They have many different uses and the design was created out of a need. Let’s investigate further so we have a better grasp on why we need these and for what purposes can we best use these for. Noise canceling headphones is the way we are heading in this market.
It all starts with a man named Amar Bose on a flight to Europe around 1978. Bose is the founder of the Bose Corporation who wanted to listen to some audio only to find out that it was very hard for him to hear anything with the jet engines noises drowning out the audio. Bose than knew something must be done and he went to work on his idea. Less than a decade later we had the first noise canceling headphone on the market. What exactly are noise canceling headphones? Simply put they use a microphone that is placed near your ears through a circuitry and generate a sound wave in the opposite direction to blocking incoming noise. This is where the noise cancelation part comes in. Some models work better than others of course it depends on a lot of different factors. Most of the noise canceling headphones only cancels lower frequency portions of the noise. No system can stop all the noise that is just impossible, but limiting the part you can hear is very possible and something people really like to see.
As you expect, several limitations do exist. They need power to efficiently operate which means replacement of the battery will be something you must do. Many have rechargeable batteries so this makes it easier. Extra hiss sounds are another thing that they could bring to you. It doesn’t happen often, but a possibility. Early models were very bulky, but the newer ones are much more user friendly and lighter giving you a much better fit and sound quality. They won’t cancel every bit of sound that’s just not possible. So what good are they if they don’t block all the noise? Well let’s take a look at why noise canceling headphones are actually something you want to own.
Every day was exposed to more and more noise and any time we can block some of that it’s always a good idea. As you’re listening to your iPod or Mp3 player sometime irrupting noises from the outside world can be blocked out using a noise canceling headphone. It won’t block it all, but could get rid of a significant amount of it. This will give you a chance to listen to your tunes in peace instead of turning up the volume all the time. Most people will crank up the music and all they do is hurt their hearing in the long run. This is why using noise canceling headphones is very important to help save your hearing. Over the last few years many new innovations have come to headphones and their noise canceling ability. This has given the consumer a much better product than say five or ten years ago. In the future it will just get better which means less everyday noise in our lives and I’m sure were all for that.
