Stop Unwanted Noises Is What Noise Canceling Headphones Are About. Nothing can be more annoying than outside noises to bug you want you’re trying to listen to something. Here comes noise canceling headphones to the rescue. Do they really work though? Are they worth the money? These are questions many people have about these headphones and how they actually work. Noise canceling headphones reduce unwanted noises so you can get a good crisp sound without all the distractions from outside noises. By keeping noise low at the ear you get to listen to your music without raising the volume. Depending on the headphones you have will determine how much noise actually gets filtered out. Let's take a deeper look at how this system actually works.
First a little history about this technology. Dr. Amar Bose the founder of the Bose Corporation began work on this type of technology aboard an airplane around 1978. He found how irritating outside noise was when he was flying home and decided to do something about it. Noise canceling headphones usually have a microphone placed by the ear and an electronic circuit which generates a sound wave which is the opposite of the wave the microphone picks up canceling the sound or at least reducing it. Many companies such as Panasonic, Sony, Bose and Sennheiser all have their own type of noise canceling headphones available. Now are these headphones foolproof, nope not by a long shot as they do have limitations.
Just like every great new idea that comes along there are limitations on what it can do and noise canceling headphones are no different. They consume power which means they are battery operated by a throw away type or rechargeable. This is something that you should consider before purchasing. People tend to just see the words noise canceling headphones and think they will be noise free. It sounds good in principle, but the facts are it won't cancel all the noise. It will reduce it though to an acceptable level. Noise canceling headphones are a great tool to reduce noise in your ears as many new models come out all the time and are getting better noise reduction. They are even coming in smaller sizes which are a welcome addition. As the years go by better things will be available, but like anything it does take some time before its perfect, if we ever reach that stage.
Most noise cancellation headphones use active noise reduction method. The headphones have a small amplifier which produces a low pressure sound wave corresponding to the higher ones of the noise and cancel them out thereby reducing the noise considerably. The destructive interference of sound cancels out any noise that may disturb the listener
