Cordless Headphone System-Get One of Sony's Best
Through the years many things stay the same and making top quality products it seems never go out of style with Sony. One of those is their cordless headphone system. The Sony MDR-IF240RK Infrared Cordless headphone system is one of those. We’re going to look at this system and see how well it works and if it's worth adding to our collection of headphones.
We’re going to start by taking a look at some of specs on the Sony 240RK that you will want to know about. It's powered by a RF transmitter with rechargeable AAA batteries that last around 30 hours, but you do have an option of a standard battery and it seems to last longer so you may want to have some of them handy just in case. The sensitivity is around 105 db and impedance is rated around 24 ohms. The range of the transmitter will be around 24-30 feet so try to stay in those ranges for best reception. It uses the open air headphone type and infrared wireless to keep you in contact with the base unit. Now that we got all the specs out of the way let’s look how well this unit performs. Just like any unit you must stay within the range limits. Even though it is a wireless system you can only go so far away before the signal weakens. Just remember that and you should have no problems in that aspect of it. Also remember ranges can vary depending on factors that you can control. Things such as other electronics in a room can also affect it too as they can cause certain problems so keep them away from those units is a good idea.
Sound quality it seems has always been an issue with cordless products, but I didn't really find any problem with this one. In fact this one performed well and better than expected. Sony has always produced quality sounding headphones and this unit is as well. I love the bass sounds that this unit provides which I'm starting to think that Sony does as well as anybody. It also does well through different types of music and ranges. Many times I usually find this is where most headphones fall down. This one didn't and got a plus for that. Comfort is another thing that people tend to forget about, but most people who use headphones will tell you what that means to them. This set of headphones were nice and comfortable with plenty of padding so I really had no complaints their either. These are very adjustable so they should almost fit anyone. They’re not too loose or too tight so that is something that really stand out especially in a wireless pair.
