Wireless Headphones- Best Ones for less than One Hundred Dollars
Finding the best headphones for less than $100 isn't as hard as it may seem. As we have emerged into a wireless society, the wireless headphone market has exploded with some great new products. If you think about it going wireless especially with headphones for most people is the only way to go. It is true that wireless headphones can set you back a few bucks, but we have found some great wireless headphones that will set you back only $100 or less. These are the ones we like the best and will do you an excellent job so you can concentrate on listening to music and nothing else. First up is the Sony MDR-RF930K which retails for less than $100 so it fits into what we are looking for.
Sony electronics is known for their quality and usually their products deliver first rate performance compared to other models in the market. This model has three channels for your listening pleasure so you can find a frequency that will work for you. Sometimes, but not very often you may run in frequency problems so three channels with this model usually will solve that problem. You will need two AA batteries to power the unit and they last a normal amount of time and it transmits well up to around 150 feet. After that though, a transmission can become intermittent. All in all not a bad model lacking bass sound, but for the average consumer it will do for most.
The next wireless headphone I reviewed was the Advent AW770 with a price tag also around $100. This model has some improvements though over the Sony. The Advent AW770 gives you a longer distance that you can be away from your receiver. They say up to 300 feet which is almost double of the Sony. It uses three AA batteries which means it may cost a little more in battery use. One nice touch is the variable frequency adjustment that this model offers.
Where the Sony had the three channel system, this is a variable system which should make it easier to find a good starting point to get the best sound and less static. The reception is better than the Sony as 300 feet makes a big difference, but as you approach the 300 feet it does seem to cut out. Stay under the 300 feet and you should be fine. The bass sounds a lot better on the Advent than the Sony, but that is where it ends. Higher sounds seem muffled so that is something that I don't like. The Advent has some very good things, but in reality they aren't much different that the Sony.
After looking at these two wireless headphones some basic conclusions come shining through. First $100 and under wireless headphones are nowhere near as good as their high price brothers. Out of the two wireless headphones for the average consumer the Sony is probably the model you should go with. Why? Simply put it's the name. You don't get that much more with the Advent to drop the Sony nameplate so stick with what you know. Wireless headphones have come a long way in the last few years, but on the low end they still have many more strides to go. The low end market just isn't that good right now and if these two are any indication it could be a very long time before we see any movement in the low end wireless headphone market. My suggestion if you have the extra money head to the higher end wireless headphone market. You will get more value for your money and a more pleasurable listening experience.
