Wireless Headphones: What Are the Perks?

Are you sitting in your room, right next to your stereo or computer, wishing you could listen to your music at the volume you desire without being tied to a music source by a technologically-backward umbilical cord (that umbilical cord actually being the cord that connects your headset to your music source)? If you feel this way you may want to consider stepping into the 21st century by getting a pair of wireless headphones. There are many affordable brands available these days and many create such an incredible sound quality that you’ll want to pitch that 20th century headset in the nearest dumpster as soon as possible.

Wireless headphones have made their way into consumers’ hearts by providing a large number of benefits including freedom and other great features. Let’s look at a few of their perks:

No Tangles

The freedom of no tangles is a great one – and no, I’m not talking about your hair. When you’re connected to your stereo by a cord, it is easy to make a wrong turn and have that cord wrapped around you. The cord can get caught under things, caught between things and even knock your stuff on the floor. By going wireless, you cut that 20th century umbilical cord and allow yourself the freedom to mature as a music listener in the new millennium.

Independence

Aside from not having to untangle yourself from your computer all the time, with wireless headphones you can actually move around the house (typically 25-30 ft away) without losing a signal. This means you can go wash your dishes, vacuum your floor, check on the baby, shake the rug out on the porch, do your yoga and even eat a quick snack without feeling the need to pick your computer up and take it everywhere with you. C’mon … who doesn’t want that type of freedom?

Connectivity

Another great perk of these headphones is the ability to connect them to so many more sources. Before, your only choice was to find a plug and determine whether it was stereo or mono. But now, you can go buy a Bluetooth-enabled adapter for your TV, stereo, or computer; and if you have an iPod or MP3 player, it is likely to already be Bluetooth-enabled, which means your wireless headset can connect to all of them and allow you to listen to your favorite show, movie, song, YouTube clip, and much more while moving freely around the house.

The One Con (Negative)

The one negative aspect that I could conjure up for these headphones are the fact that because they are wireless they work on a rechargeable battery. This is great for when you have plenty of listening and standby time available, however, when you’re all juiced up to listen to your favorite song and your headphones cannot hold a charge then you’ll be scrambling through that dumpster to find the older headset you thought you’d never need again. To avoid this most likely uncommon event, it’s best to keep your old pair around for those “just in case” moments. Sometimes advanced technology can surprise you with its not-so-great sides.

As you can see from the short list, there are many more pros than cons in buying wireless headphones. The choice you have to make now is to decide which pair you think will be right for you. By conducting your research on all of the features you want in wireless headphones, it won’t take long to do so. Then you’ll be all set to listen to your favorite song, independent of the 20th century.
