The world has gone wireless, with wireless headphones

Why would you want a pair of wireless headphones?

The world is becoming wireless. Why? It just makes life more convenient. Did you know that you can have wireless keyboards, mouse, printers and even headphones? Why would you want a pair of wireless headphones?

Think about it. Your stereo looks so nice sitting in that corner to the right of you. But you prefer your favorite chair to sit by the window. You love to look outside while you read. But you also love to listen to your music as you read. Your roommate hates your music. Listening to your music through a set of headphones, keeps her from complaining. What is the answer to keep the stereo where you want it, your chair where you want it and your roommate from complaining, a pair of wireless headphones?

But how do they work?

They work off of a transmitter and a set of batteries. The transmitter works like a base system. This system is not portable. It actually is a set system that you plug into your stereo, television, and computer, whatever you wish to transmit audio sounds. This transmitter will then send infrared or radio type waves to your headphone set, which operates on a set of batteries. Sound simple enough, but now you wonder about how powerful these headphones are?

Their power will depend on the brand and model you buy. Some of these headphone sets can transmit waves through walls, through floors, etc. It also depends on whether the headphone sets works with an infrared beams or radio waves.

Wireless headphone sets that work with an infrared beam will usually only work in short distances. This beam is similar to what is used with remote controls. They will generally work for about 30 feet from the transmitter or base unit. If you want a set of wireless headphones that will work at greater distances and even through walls, you are better off getting a set that works with radio waves. These types of wireless headphones will work up to 300 feet.

Once you decide on the type of headphones that will suit your needs, you need to also consider what type of sounds you need. What is the primarily reason you are buying these headphones? Will you be basically listening to music, television shows, recording words, etc?

You may also want to consider whether you want a set of headphones where you can actually control the volume right on the headphones. This is particularly important if you plan on listening to music where the volume and bass changes periodically. Plus, it makes it easier than having to get up and change the volume constantly at the base unit.

Finally, you should consider the style and comfort of any pair of headphones you consider buying before you purchase them. You want to make sure they fit you snuggly, yet not too tightly.

Once you try out a pair of wireless headphones, you are guaranteed never wanting to go back to the wired variety. Plus, you will have lots of reasons to give other people as to why they, too, would want a pair of wireless headphones.
