Taking Noise to Task with the Phillips SHN9500

Noise canceling headphones seem to be the latest rage and for good reason. People love sometimes just to be alone in their own little world thinking about different things that make them happy or just listening to music. With more and more of us having less time to do things that time we do have we want to make the most of it. Noise is one thing that we want to try and eliminate as much as possible and, that is where the Phillips SHN9500 steps up to the plate. The idea of how these things work is really very straight forward if you think about it. A microphone is put in the headset which detects outside noise and sends a sound to block it thus you have a better chance to hear and listen in peace than ever before. Do these things really work though? Blocking out noise can be tough. Let's take a deeper look at this set of headphones and what they offer.

The SHN9500 isn't a bad set of headphones and actually works pretty well. They are powered by batteries which you can use rechargeable or standard batteries. If you use it often go with the rechargeable types as you will go through a lot less and this will save you money. It can get really expensive fairly quickly if you don't. Always remember to turn the power off as many people forget this and it can really drain the unit fast. I know from experience as I've done that a few times myself. As far as comfort this model isn't bad at all either. They have a nice fit around your head and aren't too tight. Many times you will get a set that just is too tight and it hurts your ears after repeated use. This unit gave me no problems at all. The noise canceling device works well and blocks a lot of the unwanted noise. Just like anything though it won't block everything. I think that is asking too much for that to ever happen in today's world. They work well though.

Just like most headphones if you don't use the batteries, it becomes just a regular set of headphones. The Phillips SHN9500 works well in both applications so you don't have any worries about that aspect of this unit. As far as the sound quality it's good. It has a nice range and performs well at different volume levels which I found surprising as many times this is when many units tend to have problems. I saw none of that in this model though. Overall this product works well in all phases that I put them through including sound quality, comfort, and noise canceling effects. You toss in the Phillips nameplate and you are getting a very fine set of headphones. If you’re looking for something a little different from what you have right now than this maybe, the unit, you want to try. I know it performs well and I wasn't disappointed one bit. This product delivers and did a lot more than I expected. Now you can't say that about a product very often.
