Sony Ipod Headphone Alternative- The MDR EX51LP
With all the iPods and MP3 players out their more people are looking for a set of headphones to replace the ones that you get with your unit. Most of these lack bass and are hard to fit into your ears. Luckily Sony has come out with a replacement for those factory sets of headphones that just don't get the job done. Let's take a look at the EX51LP.
This set from Sony is something that should be a hit with Ipod users that's for sure. This in-ear canal phone type is popular right now and that won't change anytime soon. Bandwidth is 6-30,000 Hz with 16 ohm impedance. Toss in 100 db/Mw sensitivity and it looks like it should perform very well. It comes with a carrying case which is always great that way you can keep them protected and tangle free. A gold-plated plug also makes sure you get a good connection all the time and it also makes it look expensive even though these are very affordable. One of the first things I wondered about them was how they would fit in the ear as my old pair fit of iPod headphones fit well. These actually worked well and had no probably with fit or staying inside the ear. These also worked well when I went jogging and no problems especially if you want to do a little exercise. Their well constructed and the cord were long enough which is nice. I hate short cords as they become a problem for me. Taller people know exactly what I'm talking about.
Sound is always a big issue with people and these produce plenty of clear rich sound. Bass lovers will love these as it has plenty of that and through the spectrum from low to high range it performs well. Many iPod headphones usually let you down in the sound area, but this one was better than I expected. The EX51LP performs well on the sound side of it which is important. Comfort was very good and that is something many worry about. Over time it seems that factory IPods tend to hurt your ears after awhile, but didn't have any trouble with these at all. One thing that the Sony EX51LP does extremely well which many Ipod headphones don't and that is feeling comfortable. I have to give them credit on that end of it. Great sounds and being comfort is two things that are very important. This model works well in both arenas’s which is important to almost everyone these days.
Looking over the Sony EX51LP several things will come right to you immediately. First is this set of headphones produce great sound and is a big upgrade from any factory Ipod headphones that you get. The comfort level is very high and being able to wear for hours is a big plus for iPod users. Third is the price. Many times these aftermarket headphones are overpriced, but these are very affordable and backed by Sony's reputation. You definitely can't beat that. My advice on the EX51LP is grabbing these and tosses those factory ipod ones in the desk drawer. You will get a better pair and much clearer sound coming from your iPod. Isn't that what we want any way’s? If you’re looking for something little different than this is one pair that you need to try. I don't think they will disappoint you one bit.
