Sennheiser PMX40-A Useful Alternative to Factory iPod Earbuds
No one knows how useless those factory earbuds can be than an iPod or MP3 player owner. Yes, they work well for awhile, but there comes a time when you will need to ditch them an upgrade to something better. With all the choices out their nowadays the Sennheiser PMX40 could be the one that best fits into your budget and lifestyle. We’re going to look and see how well it stacks up and if it’s an alternative to those earbuds that everyone wants to throw away eventually.
The PMX40 is a supra-aural neckband type ofIpod headphone that in recent years has grown in popularity among people as they are easy to wear and usually fit fairly comfortable and ideal for iPods and Mp3 players. With frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz and 3.5 mm stereo jack everything seems to be in line to replace our ear buds, but do they perform. There is no sense of tossing our earbuds out if this model isn’t an upgrade from what we have right now. Design wise these look very good and are well constructed just as most Sennheiser products are. Price wise it’s on the low to mid range end of the scale so were not really going to break the bank with these so that a pus in many people’s eyes. I think one of the biggest complaints most iPods and MP3 player owners have is that the cords are to short on their earbuds. Well the PMX40 has an extra long cord which can be a plus and also a minus depending on different factors. In my eyes I will take a longer cord any day of the week.
As far as the sound goes it’s definitely an upgrade from the factory earbuds that most people are given when they purchase their iPod or Mp3 player. All types of music sound well using these so that is also a good thing. These don’t block out any outside noise which would have been nice, but they aren’t noise cancelling so I guess you can’t expect that. They do sound well and have plenty of volume. As far as performance one thing we hate about earbuds especially if you’re a runner is stopping to put them back in during your run. These were great and I had no problem completing my morning run and didn’t have to stop to adjust them. That’s a definite plus in my book. One thing I love about these is they can also be used for the computer at home which means the extra long cord really comes in handy there. They work well and sound just as good on the computer so don’t think they are for only one application.
Looking back over the Sennheiser PMX 40 you’re going to get a set of headphones that will rival your factory pair that came with your electronic device. The price will not break you and toss in the Sennheiser quality which means these will last for some time. All things considered a very nice upgrade that you may want to consider as soon as possible. That way you can toss those earbuds that really just don’t do the job anymore. Now if you want to spend a few dollars more you can consider the PMX 60 which is a better model, but of course cost a little more. If your just look for a quick replacement though go with the PMX 40 and you should be very happy.
