Sennheiser MX W1 Wireless Headphones Truly Different

Every product that comes from Sennheiser is always unique and different and the MX W1 is very different indeed for a number of different reasons. Sure wireless headphones is really nothing earth shattering as they have been around now for a few years, but this type from Sennheiser is. Read further below and you will be able to discover what I am talking about and if the MX W1 is what you are looking for in a wireless set of headphones.

The Sennheiser MX W1 wireless headphones are truly exciting for many different reasons, but probably the main reason is that this model provides a glimpse of what future wireless technology could be like. Kleer's wireless technology is used in this model which has been used before, but with not much success. The Kleer technology was used by RCA on the S2501 Jet Stream MP3 player last year but it was poorly received and thus it was scrapped. Sennheiser has decided to resurrect it and so far, I must admit they have done a very good job with it. The components are a transmitter that connects the sound source and two earpieces that have a sleek design and look something you may see from the future. The earpieces fit into a charging cradle that can be charged via either USB or an AC power adapter.

The transmitter is surprisingly large, but it is also very light so that was a shock for me. Sennheiser provides some special rubber bands that fasten to the transmitter so it can rest on the sound source. Sennheiser estimates that it will give you about three hours of playback time when everything is fully charged and it comes in a nice case which can fit in your purse or briefcase so it is very portable that is for sure. As far as comfort this new model does have a little work, but all in all really not too bad. The sound quality is some of the best I have heard which is probably a credit to the company. They always produce great sounding products and this is no exception as well. Most people who buy Sennheiser are because of the quality they produce and of course the sound quality. This new unit will not change that opinion as it excels in both areas very well.

Kleer uses RF transmission on the 2.4 GHz band which is really nothing new in wireless headphones. Is it better than Bluetooth? Yes, for a couple of different reasons. First up you, get a much stronger transmission which means you really do not have to worry about losing a signal. With Bluetooth sometimes, that can be a problem, but with this technology, you should not have that problem at all. High quality audio is something else you will get with this newer technology as well. If you ask anyone they will tell you, they want high quality audio whenever they can get it so that is another big plus as well. Most people will pay extra if they are guarantee better audio quality, as we love anything that will make our music sound much better.

Now overall first impressions of this set of wireless headphones are very positive. First up the sound quality is some of the best you will hear and toss in the Sennheiser name and how can you really go wrong. Transmission range is a little bit longer and clearer than Bluetooth so that is something else that I really like about the model as well. The earpieces are a little different from what I am using to, but all in all not bad at all.

The thing that people have to understand about the MX W1 is it is on the edge of cutting technology so we must take this into consideration when we look at it. The only real drawback that I see with this model it does have a high entry-level price. I am sure though that will come down as more innovations are made to it and people get use to it. Overall, though it is a very good set of wireless headphones and could very well be the future of headphones. Sennheiser has created another quality product and this one could change the way we do things in the not so distant future. Wireless headphones seem to be where everything is headed and the more we embrace this type the more companies will try and push the envelope. This is just one example of what can be done.
