Philips HC8430 Wireless Headphones
Philips HC8430 Wireless Headphones- Can They Deliver As Promise
In the wireless headphone market it seems everyone is jumping in trying to make a fast buck and many inferior products are being introduced. One of Philips entries into this arena is the HC8430 and I wanted to see how well it stacks up against others that I have tried. Of course I don’t expect a lot so I can be a good judge of companies who are always trying to find their way in a new market. Let’s take a look and see how well the HC8430 performs that way we can tell if it’s worthy of our purchase.
If you haven’t had a chance to go wireless yet than maybe the Philips HC 8430 is a good place to start for yourself. This entry level model has a low price which makes it a good idea if you’re looking to start out with this type of model. Construction is very sound and it seems well made and should be fairly durable. Remember this is on the low end so you can’t expect top of the line construction companies usually keep those for their better models as that way they can charge more. The HC 8430 feels comfortable to wear and not too tight or loose which is something you will need to check with different models that you want to purchase. The over the head design seems to work well with these.
With many people sound quality will make or break a set of wireless headphones. This pair did well in that area. Put various music types in usually will show you how well they can handle it. Some headphones will distort certain kinds of music or make it sound bad, but the HC8430 wasn’t bad at all. In fact it actually surprised me for being a low end product that it was able to do well in this part of the test. This is usually where many low end products fail, but not this one. As far as reception through the home this model didn’t perform as well as I would have liked, but this could be from many different factors that you can’t control. Where you live and your surrounds have a lot to do with it, and took it to another home and it performed well as far as reception. Losing reception can be cause by many things so don’t rush to judge any wireless product without knowing everything. I’ve found this out by using many different wireless products. It has a two channel switch and 330 feet range which for a wireless product is good so I’m betting it was the area I live in.
The HC 8430 is powered by two standard AAA batteries which usually will last up to 15 hours, but a rechargeable type would have been nicer, but we can’t have everything I guess. It has a responsive bandwidth of 20-20000 Hz which isn’t bad either. Overall this model from Philips isn’t a bad entry level model that will do the job for you. It’s on the low end as far as price so you really have nothing to lose and if you’re looking for a way to get into wireless quickly at a low price this is just perfect. The Philips HC 8430 all in all isn’t too bad if you’re starting out and I would give it a try if you don’t really know if wireless is what you want. It’s a great starting point.
